1. Pastikan Oracle VM VirtualBox sudah terinstal pada laptop/PC anda. Jika belum download Oracle VM VirtualBox, download disini.
2. Siapkan ISO Ubuntu 14.04 atau versi yang lain. jika belum ada download Ubuntu server, download disini
3. Kemudian buka Oracle VM VirtualBox.
4. Setelah terbuka, klik baru.
5. Masukkan nama sesuai keinginan anda, tapi saya beri nama UbuntuServer14, sesuaikan type dan Version seperti gambar dibawah. (note : jika anda menggunakan laptop/PC 64bit untuk version ganti yang Ubuntu(64)).
6. Pilih jumlah memori dasar (RAM) dalam megabytes untuk dialokasikan pada mesin virtual, biasanya default, kemudian pilih Next.
7. Pilih Create a virtual hard drive now. kemudian Create.
8. Pilih VDI (VirtualBox Machine Image), kemudian Next.
9. Pada File location and size : biarkan default biasanya 8GB, kemudian pilih Create.
10. Kemudian pilih dulu UbuntuServer14, kemudian pilih Setting.
11. Pada setting pilih Storage > Empty > klik gambar lempengan cd > choose a virtual CD/DVD disk file...
12. Kemudian pilih lokasi ISO Ubuntu yang ada atau yang sudah terdownload tadi, pilih Open.
13. Setelah me-load ISOnya, pilih OK
14. Klik Start untuk memulai menginstal Ubuntu Server
15. Pilih Bahasa yang diinginkan (English), tekan Enter.
16. Pilih Install Ubuntu Server
17. Pilih English, lalu enter.
18. Untuk Lokasi pilih United States, tekan enter.
19. Pada Detect keyboard layout? Pilih No, tekan enter.
20. Country of origin for the keyboard : pilih English (US), tekan enter.
21. Keyboard layout : Pilih English (US), tekan enter.
22. Hostname : ketik sesuai keinginan anda.
23. Full name for the new user: ketik sesuai keinginan.
24.Username for your account : ketik sesuai keinginan anda.
25. Choose a Password for the new user : masukkan password sesuai keinginan anda (digunakan untuk login pada ubuntu nanti ketika selesai terinstal)
26.Ketik lagi password sesuai dengan password yang sudah di ketik sebelumnya.
27.Encrypt your home directory? Pilih No, tekan enter.
28. Is this time zone correct? Pilih Yes, tekan enter.
29. Pada Partitioning method : Pilih Manual, tekan enter.
30. Kemudian pilih SCSI3 (0,0,0) (sda) – 8.6 GB ATA VBOX HARDDISK, tekan enter.
31.Creater new empty..... : Pilih Yes, tekan enter.
32.Kemudian pilih "pri/log 8.6 GB FREE SPACE", tekan enter.
33. How to use this free space : Pilih "Create a new partition", tekan enter.
34. New partition size : masukkan 5,6 GB, lalu enter.
35. Type for the new partition : Pilih Primary, tekan enter,
36. Location for the new partiton : Pilih Beginning, tekan enter.
37. Partition Setting : Pilih "Done setting up the partition", tekan enter.
38. Pilih pri/log 3.0 GB FREE SPACE, tekan enter.
39. How to use this free space : Pilih "Create a new partition", tekan enter.
40. New partition size : masukkan 1.0 GB, pilih Continue menggunakan Tab, tekan enter.
41. Type for the new partition: Pilih "Logical", tekan enter.
42. Location for the new partition : Pilih "Beginning", tekan enter.
43. Partition setting : Pilih "Use as : Ext4 journaling file system", tekan enter.
44. Kemudian pilih "Swap area", tekan enter.
45. Kemudian pilih "Done setting up the partition", tekan enter.
46. Pilih pri/log 2.0 GB FREE SPACE, tekan enter.
47. How to use this free space : pilih "Create a new partition", tekan enter.
48. Pada New partition size : Masukkan 2.0 GB, pilih Continue, tekan enter.
49. Type for the new partition : pilih "logical", tekan enter.
50. Partition setting : Pilih "Done setting up the partition", tekan enter.
51. Kemudian pilih "Finish partitioning and write changes to disk", tekan enter.
52. Write the changes to disks? "Yes", tekan enter.
53. HTTP proxy.... kosongkan saja, pilih continue, tekan enter.
54. Kemudian pilih "No automatic updates", tekan enter.
55. Choose software install : pilih "Manual package selection", kemudian pilih Continue menggunakan tab, tekan enter.
56. Install the GRUB boot loader to the master boot record? "Yes", tekan enter.
57. Finish the Installation, tekan enter.
Setelah terinstall, tampilan akan akan hitam seperti cmd, nah kemudian bagaimana cara menampilkan GUI/Desktop Ubuntu Server, caranya adalah gunakan perintah dibawah ini :
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
$ sudo reboot
